HELLLOOOOO! WASSSUP WASSSUP?

no, i'm not feeling high. in fact am feeling damn tired right now. so tired i cannot be bothered with caps-uncaps my entry. so anyway, my first afternn shift. wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! freakinggg tiring i tell you! dangs! so much walking up and down the corridor today for various purposes. take urinal (the container male patients pee into when they cannot go toilet), put the urinal back, take the changing trolley, search for patients in the toilet and this and that.

and guess what? i managed to perform TWO(2) NGtube feeding today! GREAT SUCCESS! ok, why am i so obsessed with that? its because not many people get to do it. especially if their wards are not the geron ward. besides, i've practiced so much in school for assessments i better be able to do it on a real patient la! i managed diaper-changing on my own! yeayyyy! OH! and i watched the doctors put a tap on a patient's stomach. they call it abdominal tap. it's really a tap-like thing to drain fluid from the patient's abdomen. and like the student nurses were standing there watching with the student doctors.

so ya, there was this uncle who sang the ABC song LOUDLY. and i heard he sang the national anthem last night. haha, cuteness. =]

it's been great so far. just that i have to present 2 case studies to my teacher tmrw. and i havent really go thru the cases because i was so busy.

oh, of course, the feetxz still hurtsx...!

day3

Was too tired to get on the comp last night to update. Went out with BF yest after work to have lunch at Mukmin! Sedapppp kan??? =D Den we rode to ECP to fool around, see aeroplanes, people sailing, etc. FUN!

Anyways, I performed my FIRST Naso-gastric (nose-to-stomach) tube feeding on a real patient yesterday. Greatest achievement so far! =D Lots and lots of parameters (temperature, blood pressure, respiration, pulse) taking and charting. But I gabra alot and I got scolded yesterday about an oxygen tank thingy. But it's not my fault. She wasn't clear on the instructions and I was doing her a favour. IDIOT! But it's ok.. Like Mdm Chye says "It's ok to be stupid, don't everytime so clever.." I think she meant it's better to know what you don't know than to not know what you don't know. =D

So far, the job has been very interesting and I get to learn lots of stuff from the enrolled nurses (EN) and the ITE students. But my heels hurt like mad after each day. I guess it takes some getting used to.

day2

Aight, so today was the second day. I've survived and have actually achieved more things than yesterday. Bathing patient in the toilet, changing clothes, bedsheet, diapers, feeding and observing other stuff.

I feel happy when the old guys (its a male geron ward) call me Missy (No, I'm not being pervertic). And I go up to them and they tell me that they're cold. So I pull the blanket over their shoulders and turn off the fan. It makes me happy when I walk around, ask them if they're ok and they say "Missy, I'm very comfortable. Very good!" And although sometimes it feels weird when we don't understand what the other was saying, I try to make them understand by sign language or attempt to throw in some mandarin/hokkien words like "Uncle got pangsai or not? Pangsai???".

Sometimes when I see disgusting stuff, or smell, I ask myself "Do I really wanna do this in the long run? Like seriously?" Oh well, am still thinking. But I think I know the answer..

Today was the first day at the hospital. It was, well, interesting. A little on the boring side though. Maybe cause we haven't started doing anything. YET. But I've observed some embarrassing procedures like diaper- and pants- changing. Tmrw's morning shift, I expect some hectic time.

Happy day today! Went to school in the morning to swim with the girls. And we got lazy before we even stepped into the pool. So, we ended up floating around in the deep pool and having girly talks and other nonsense. Ate prata at the canteen and me and Di sat on the swings at the playground while waiting to Syaz to berry. And it's really easy to get injured la I tell you! You see, my toes was 'dragged' against the rubberflooring while I was on the swing gg almost 180deg (exaggerate). So got abrasion and open wound on one of the toes. =X

Then, we found ouselves looking at awfulplasticsurgeries (of celebs) and Di wanted to see AmandaLepore's pics.. Hahah, opps.. After which, we went to Syaz's mom's exhibition and i had free lulur (homemade scrub) and a pretty shopping bag.

National Day cum Nurses' Day Celebration at school was ...... The 'One minute of fame' was cannot-make-it. The judges lied and commented that some sounded melodious. He's either lying or deaf. I was thankful that they can only do whatever they were doing for ONE minute (Some contestants were really -_-"). Not that I could have done a better job (than them) though. Oh well. The only part I love about the celebration was that they provided free-flow of tea and you can add as much milk as you wish. Di's black coffee turned light brown, so go figure. =D The cake sucked cause it was creamcake. So were the other finger-food. Oh come on, sesameballs and angkukueh??!?!?!? So we cabot with the stuff and sat at Macs. Shared 2 packs of fries and coke. And then we craved for Sundaes... Hahaha!

Oh, I suddenly remember..
-I asked my love, to take a walk. To take a walk, to Mcdonalds. We had ice-cream and ate french fries. We shared a drink, of lemon lime.-

Hohoho! I'm in the anatomy and physiology resource room right now. Waiting for Shazzy while she's having her grp meeting. Right before this period, I had my last project presentation for the semester! =D Btw, I cannot stand rude audience! Those who make snide remarks while you're up there presenting or even those who talk amongst themselves. IRRITATING. Anyways, I'm only left with the final theory exam papers in about 2 weeks time. Then, another 2 weeks, I'm off to CGH for attachment!

Talking about CGH, Winnie called me up yest and informed me that the deed is ready to be signed! Which meansssssss, I'm gonna get $$$$$$$$$$$! Hehe.

Anyway, I've been hanging out with the girls alot.. =] We're gg to swim laterrrr!
